Most Executive and Senior Manager’s CV’s really aren’t good enough!

The modern job market demands ‘Specialists’ not ‘Generalists’. Yet the search for great Executives and Senior Managers with specific Key Value-Adding Strengths is hampered by their own CV’s – which tend to be quite generic and often not even of a quality expected from senior people.
So let’s look at your own CV together and ask:
- Did you think a good CV was easy to produce, but didn’t appreciate how much better you could be presented? Remember, it has to work for you when you’re not there!
- Will it test positive against the recruiter’s 7-10 second rule?
- Does it positively support your preferred future direction?
- Might the reader under-value your real potential?
- Does it identify Key Value-Adding Strengths to make you stand out from all the others?
- Does it clearly articulate relevant examples that prove your worth?
- Is it really you at your best, or just the best you could do?
- Might you have written it without enough preparation or thought?
- Have you copied someone else’s style or content?
- Did you brain-dump things into it, hoping someone might find something of interest?
- Do you hope recruiters will be able to work out your potential value for themselves?
- Is your career history clearly, credibly and succinctly presenting you at your best?
- Does it demonstrate anything positive about your personality and character?
- Have you avoided a poor font choice, poor layout and made your CV easy to read?
- Have you ensured it doesn’t contain any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors?
Yes, these are genuine and quite common failures – but they are not insurmountable! You can really can look better, different and even more impressive – and without telling lies!
Just imagine what a difference it would make and how more successful your job search might be, if you had overcome these common failures!
